The Affordable Care Act, National HIV/AIDS Strategy, and High Impact HIV Prevention Strategy each have the potential to influence the programs and funding resources for community based organizations (CBOs) involved in HIV prevention. In order for CBO board members, leadership, and staff to be as prepared as possible for future programmatic and resources shifts, many have recognized the need to engage in strategic planning. Yet, most CBOs find it challenging to drum up resources, time, and enthusiasm to undertake intensive strategic planning processes.
In the Spring of 2012, the Capacity For Health (C4H) Project at the Asian & Pacific Islander American Health Forum (APIAHF) began a multi-component national assessment of HIV/AIDS Service Organizations (ASOs) and HIV/AIDS-serving Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) providing HIV/AIDS services in the United States. The C4H Project is funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to provide Capacity Building Assistance (CBA) to CBOs involved in HIV prevention.
