Online Training: An Overview of High Impact HIV Prevention

This online training is part of a series of online trainings explaining new directions in HIV Prevention as put forth in the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC’s) new High Impact HIV Prevention approach. In response to the National HIV/AIDS Strategy (NHAS) released in July 2010, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) began framing a new approach to HIV prevention in the US.

This online training explains the background of the new High Impact HIV Prevention approach and defines what makes an intervention “high impact”. Topics include: an overview of the NHAS priorities for HIV prevention, current knowledge of effective HIV prevention, considerations for increasing the impact of HIV prevention, and proven high impact HIV prevention interventions.

After completing this online training, you may wish to explore further online trainings in this series which will cover, in a more in-depth manner, various topics within High Impact HIV Prevention including: *Prevention with Positives*, *Linkage to Care*, *Treatment as Prevention and Effective Treatment Adherence Interventions*, and *High Impact HIV Testing*. This online training is accompanied by a High Impact HIV Prevention information sheet.
