Making the Transition to Third-Party Billing for HIV Testing
What is third-party billing and why is it important?
- Funding for public health, such as STD and other sexual health services, is decreasing annually and driving the need for providers to supplement discretionary resources.
- Leveraging the options available for reimbursement will help foster the financial health of STD/HIV clinics and programs ensuring their viability as safety net providers.
- Participants will review the basics of 3rd party billing, discuss the rationale for billing, and the initial steps for billing implementation.
In February 2015, Capacity for Health’s subcontractor, the National Coalition of STD Directors (NCSD), partnered with the National Family Planning & Reproductive Health Association to present this topic and answer questions to HIV prevention providers in Louisiana. Although the presentation was not recorded, the slides are now available for you to read.
