Data to Care Public Health Strategy

Data plays a powerful role in HIV care. Data is collected to help us see how many of our clients achieve “viral suppression,” are “linked to care,” or are living with HIV in our state or jurisdiction. This data fuels funding, informs regional planning, and consumes the lives of many working professionals.

According to CDC,

Data to Care is a new public health strategy that aims to use HIV surveillance data to identify HIV-diagnosed individuals not in care, link them to care, and support the HIV Care Continuum.

Health departments and health care providers must work together to clean data, identify clients who are out of care, link these clients to care, and help them achieve viral suppression. The Effective Interventions website is full of resources like case studies, tools, and issues to consider to help health departments and health care providers implement Data to Care activities.
